June 2, 2009

Marsha and Warren struggled a little today. Marsha’s pain and discomfort is not dissipating and today her doctor ordered a CT scan to try and locate the problem. Warren’s lungs are doing better, they keep lowering the pressure on the SCUBA mask, but he did not tolerate his food (breast milk) today. He burped up twice when we visited him today and is only passing slightly digested milk. They ordered an x-ray to see if he has a blockage. We’ve been told some preterm babies go through a few rounds of feeding intolerance, but the big fear is NEC (necrotizing enterocolitis – An intestinal infection, most common in young preterm babies, in which portions of the bowel are damaged or destroyed because of poor blood flow, inflammation, or infection).

Here is a picture of Warren waving "hello".
