Marsha’s temperature has faded and the infection is clearing up. She no longer has an IV and is only taking oral antibiotics. She should be released tomorrow (Wednesday).


Good news about Warren. It looks like his “patent ductus arteriosus” (PDA) has closed. (The PDA is a condition were a fetal blood vessel fails to close after birth. The fetus gets oxygen through the placenta, not from its lungs. The ductus allows the fetal blood to bypass the lungs and go directly to the placenta. After birth, this vessel is no longer needed and must closed to establish normal blood flow.)


Also, his third brain scan is clear of blood. The doctor says that this is excellent news since most bleeds usually occur within the first 7 days. He continues to be free of infection and they plan to stop the antibiotic IV tomorrow. Warren is in a stabilization pattern in regards to being able to be weaned off the ventilator. They have given him a tiny amount of steroids to help lung development.
